But how do you become a candidate for such a prestigious organization? Let’s break it down.

1. Be an Industrial Engineering Student
This one is simple: APM is a society dedicated specifically to the Industrial Engineering discipline. That means only students majoring in Industrial Engineering are eligible to apply.
2. Completion of at least 9 Approved Credits in IE Courses
Before you can be considered for APM candidacy, you need to have some IE experience. That means completing at least 9 approved credits in Industrial Engineering courses. This requirement ensures that candidates have had meaningful exposure to the field and are committed to it academically.
3. Maintain a Cumulative and Major GPA in IE of 3.30 or Higher
Academic excellence is a core pillar of Alpha Pi Mu. Candidates must have a GPA of 3.30 or higher, both overall and within their IE coursework. This reflects dedication, consistency, and a strong work ethic, all of which are essential qualities for future leaders in the field.
4. Class Ranking Requirements
To be eligible, your academic performance also needs to place you among the best of your peers. Specifically:
Top 33.33% of the senior class, or
Top 20% of the junior class
This standard ensures that only those who have truly excelled in their academic journey are invited to join.
Why It Matters?
